The majority of countries need a visa of current validity to enter on the French territory. The steps to obtain a visa can be long and complicated. Do you need a visa?
All the foreigners entering and staying on the French territory need a visa of entrance and stay of current validity, except in case of exemption of this obligation. You will find below the countries which do not need a visa:
Countries of " the Schengen area ":
Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.
Other countries:
Andorra, Argentina, Australia, the Bermuda Islands, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, Republic of Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, United States of America, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Venezuela (Rép. Bowl. Of).
Are also exempted from Visa:
- The ressortissant of the European Union (EU) or of the European Economic Erea (EEE) are not subjected to the visa of entrance and stay, whatever is the duration of the stay. The members of the family of a ressortissnant of the EU or the EEE are subject to the same regime of circulation as the other foreigners of their nationality.
- The holders of passports of the administrative region of Hong-Kong (People's Republic of China) and the administrative region of Macao (People's Republic of China).
- The holders of a title of stay in France of current validity.
- The holders of a title of stay delivered by a State applying the agreements of Schengen; the holders of a title of journey delivered by a State applying the agreements of Schengen.
