Discover the Mauquenchy Hippodrome
The World University Cross Country Championships 2008 will take place at Mauquenchy departmental hippodrome located at about 40 kilometres (about 25 miles) in north-east Rouen in Seine Maritime. Inaugurated in october 2005, the site of Mauquenchy covers 315 hectares in which 76 are occupied by the hippodrome. It is the ideal place to receive a public for great events thanks to the installations set up around the track such as the reception, the grandstands (more than 2000 seats), the extent multifunction covered place, the numerous car parks, the bar and the restaurant.
For the athletes, a place fitted with changing rooms, showers and toilets will be set up apart from the public.
The track which will partly be used for the course measures 1 300 metres long (0.8 miles) for 24 metres wide (about 26 yards) for the straight lines and 16 metres (about 17 yards) in the bends.
