From Tréport to the Mont Saint Michel, Normandy offers plenty of stunning scenery. Now a UNESCO world heritage site, Le Havre boasts modern architecture as the city was completely redesigned by well known architect Auguste Perret.

There are various museums in Normandy dedicated to D-Day and the events which succeeded the 6th June 1944. The Airborne Forces Museum in St Mère Eglise, the 360 degree cinema in Arromanches, the American Cemetery and its recently built Visitor Centre are all moving, informative sites. Because of its explosive history, Normandy is now seen as a symbol of liberty, brotherhood and heroism.

Many artists flocked to Normandy in the impressionist era because of the special Norman light and scenery. Claude Monet’s “waterlilies” is well known painting. The painter's home and gardens can be visited in the town of Giverny. Rouen and Alençon are also home to Museums of Fine Art which exhibit many prestigious collections.
Did you know: Some of the most prominent historical figures spent time in Normandy?
The Bayeux Tapestry depicts the tale of William the Conqueror’s (he was also Duke of Normandy) invasion of England. Richard the Lionheart ordered the construction of the Gaillard Château, of which the ruins are now openned to visitors.

The dairy products of the region are renowned, with cheeses such as Camembert, Livarot, Petit-Suisse and Boursin all hailing from Normandy. Calvados, Cider, Pommeau and Kir Normand are the region’s popular drinks.
